OLA Update #3 / 5th July, 2021

WESTERN ZONE

July 2nd, 2021 

  • Kobara, Mana Sibu district, West Walaga
    The Oromo Liberation Army has liberated Kobara after successfully driving out Ethiopian forces in the area.
  • Gaara Wata, Sasiga district, East Walaga
    A successful operation by the Oromo Liberation Army has resulted in significant numbers of enemy combatants being killed and injured. 

July 3rd, 2021 

  • Haro Limmu district, East Walaga
    A joint-operation between Oromo Liberation Army regulars and the OLA’s Urjii Lola commando unit resulted in over 80 of the remaining Ethiopian forces being killed and several more being injured.
  • Dallati, Nunu Kumba district, East Walaga
    A two-day  operation by the OLA’s Cibra Shanan Gibe brigade resulted in 27 enemy       combatants being killed and 18 being injured. 96 AKM rifles were also captured.

July 4th, 2021 

  • Gaara Abba Seena, Gimbi district, West Walaga
    A joint-operation by the OLA’s Bitinessa Dina, Mancasa Gabruma, and Wirtu Gadaa commando units resulted in over 48 enemy combatants being killed, several more being injured, and 4 being captured. Over 50 rifles were captured.
  • Talamso Dembi, Qiltu Kara district, West Walaga
    An Ethiopian military convoy attempting to patrol the area was attacked by the Oromo Liberation Army resulting in 7 enemy combatants being killed and 4 being injured.

OLA Update #2 / 3rd July, 2021

WESTERN ZONE

July 1st, 2021

  • Dabo district, Bunno Bedele – Units of the Ethiopian military attempting to enter the Adda Bole area were stopped by the Cibra Shanan Gibe brigade resulting in 11 enemy combatants killed and an unspecified number injured.
  • Begi district, West Walaga*
  • Abe Dongoro district, Horo Guduru*

July 2nd, 2021 

  • Ganji district, West Walaga – Units of the Ethiopian military attempting to enter the Lalisa Birbir area were stopped resulting in 7 enemy combatants killed and an unspecified number injured.
  • Guma Gara Arba, Qondala district, West Walaga*

* NOTE: The Oromo Liberation Army has launched cleanup operations against the remnants of Ethiopian military presence in western Oromia. The operations are ongoing and have thus far resulted in a large number of enemy combatants being killed and injured. More details will follow.



OLA Update #1 / 29th June, 2021

CENTRAL ZONE

June 24th, 2021 

  • Meta Robi district, Shawa – An Oromo Liberation Army commando unit undertook an ambush attack on Ethiopian security forces resulting in 5 enemy combatants killed and 3 injured.

SOUTHERN ZONE

June 21st-23rd, 2021 

  • Gumi-Eldalo district, Gujji – The Cibra Soddom Borro brigade of the Oromo Liberation Army surrounded an Ethiopian military camp located at Malka Guba and launched several attacks:
    • On June 21st, 2021, at 3pm, the Cibra Soddom Borro brigade attacked the camp resulting in 4 enemy combatants killed and 4 injured.
    • On June 22nd, 2021, at 1pm, the Cibra Soddom Borro brigade attacked the camp at Malka killed 5 enemy combatants including a colonel, 7 were injured. Later that same day, another attack by the Cibra Soddom Borro brigade on the camp resulted in 9 enemy combatants being put out of action and 12 being injured.
    • On June 23rd, 2021, the Cibra Soddom Boro brigade launched an attack at 10am and killed 6 enemy combatants and injured 9. They also captured several caches of weapons consisting of AK-47s and Dishkas. Later that same day, another attack by Cibra Soddom Borro brigade resulted in 24 enemy combatants being killed (including a major and  a colonel) and 33 injured. 

WESTERN ZONE

June 24th, 2021

  • Jimma Arjo district, East Walaga – An Ethiopian military patrol was hit by an IED resulting in 32 enemy combatants being killed and 53 being wounded. 5 enemy combatants were captured along with several weapons.

June 25th, 2021

  • Nunu Kumba district, East Walaga – An attempted Ethiopian military offensive was stopped in an area called Mane Makanisa.  One Ural truck of Ethiopian soldiers was destroyed during the initial engagement. Another Ural truck was destroyed attempting to escape to the town of Dallati. 
  • Finachawa, Horo Guduru Walaga – Units of the Cibira Odaa Bulluq brigade launched an attack on Ethiopian military positions resulting in 12 enemy combatants being killed and 4 being injured.
